A low profile goggle that’s built a name for itself with superior peripheral vision, with a slew of signature colour ways and some serious pro endorsement, this is easily one of the most popular goggles you’ll see for this coming winter. Everyone from Mark McMorris to Ståle Sandbech is jumping on the Line Miner hype train, and for good reason – they do the job well, they make the most of some of Oakley’s best tech and, let’s face it, they look pretty good too.

Who Are the Oakley Line Miner Goggles For?

A wider field of view and downward vision can benefit any rider, but we think it’s well suited for those into freestyle who’ll be more likely to spend time glancing around to scout landings. Oakley Flight Deck Snow Goggles 2022-2023

A true classic. If you’ve ever bought a pair of goggles, there’s no doubt you’ll have heard of the Flight Deck. They were originally inspired by the helmet visors worn by fighter pilots – and it really shows. Expect seriously good peripheral vision, thanks to the rimless frames and Prizm lenses; allowing you to easily spot all the best lines and features on the mountain. Plus, what’s more, the ridgelock lens change system is one of the easiest out there – just push on the button to pop the lenses out. It’s that simple. Just don’t leave them lying around a bar during après; they won’t hang around for long.

Oakley Flight Path Snow Goggles 2022-2023

Aggressive riding requires a serious pair of goggles. As you might expect, and to nobody’s surprise, Oakley is able to provide this. Unlike the Flight Deck, the Flight Path has a semi-rimless design, offering unparalleled downward vision as well as extra support between the lens and helmet. Combine this with the Prizm lens, known for their increased contrast on the hill, and your guaranteed top visual clarity – even when it’s puking with snow. As with all Oakley goggles, the tight fit and superior vents means fogging up is a thing of the past. It’s easy to see why Super-G world champ Aleksander Kilde has chosen these as his signature pair.

For a simple, skate-style lid without dozens of gaping vents, check out the Mod1. This Oakley classic has a minimalist, understated vibe in subtle colourways (like straight-up black and khaki green). However, being Oakley, you can expect shed loads of tech features. For example, it uses MIPS technology, which protects your noggin not only from head-on collisions, but also multidirectional impact. Handy extra features include an adjustable BOA system at the back, plus a magnetic chin buckle that’s easy to use, even with gloves on. Sizes range from small right up to extra large, plus there’s a groms version for mini rippers, too.

Oakley Mod1 Pro Helmet 2022-2023

Ready to ramp things up a notch? Oakley’s Pro model retains the classic style of the original Mod1. Think slimline vents, earthy colourways, and no extraneous bells-and-whistles. However, with the Pro, they’ve lobbed in a few extra features, most notably, the heavy-duty shell. This outer layer is made with super tough Dura-Matter, the most hard-wearing material in Oakley’s range. It boasts top ding and dent resistance, designed to combat any spills, crashes or – let’s be honest – drops on the floor of the après bar. Combine this with the MIPS technology and you’ve got a helmet that’s well-suited to the park.

Oakley Mod3 Helmet 2022-2023

Next up in the Oakley helmet hierarchy, you’ll find the Mod3. This mid-range model packs in a lot under one lid. Design wise, it’s slightly chunkier than its predecessors and it comes with a removable brim, depending on your goggle size. It also features the same MIPS technology for crash protection as the Mod1. However, it wouldn’t be an upgrade without enhanced features. The 360-degree BOA system wraps the inner lining nicely around your head for a snug fit. Adjustable vents allow good ventilation, which work well alongside the X-Static liner, made with odour-reducing fabric to stop any helmet stink after sweaty spring park laps.

Way up at the top of the Oakley helmet range is the Mod5. This tough-as-nails helmet is built for those that ride hard, with the MIPS version offering the maximum protection in the Mod range. It boasts a sturdy feel, one that’s made to last. On top of this, the vent system is top-of-the-range, keeping your noggin cool on spring days and toasty warm when storms set in. One of the best aspects of Oakley’s helmets is they fit with almost any google shape, thanks to the removable brim. It’s definitely on the high end of the price scale, but it definitely ticks all the boxes for a high-quality lid.

The Gore-Tex shell wicks away water beautifully, so you won’t be left with icy, sodden hands at the end of a powder day. Inside, the Thinsulate lining adds that fuzzy layer for extra heat retention.
