Oakley Top To Bottom | Jamie Anderson

We deep dive into Jamie Anderson's get-up and break down what makes it her gear of choice

It’s no exaggeration to say that Jamie Anderson is one of the most prolific athletes to ever strap into a snowboard. A bona fide hall of famer with wins in every major contest, including back to back Olympic gold medals, Jamie is truly in a league of her own.

Triple threat doesn’t even begin to cover it, not only a dominating force on the Big Air and Slopestyle circuit, but with projects like Full Moon and Unconditional Jamie managed to bridge the gap between the competitive sphere and a seasoned filmer, and then with her involvement in the ground-breaking Natural Selection Tour she made herself a force to be reckoned with taking her skills outside the park ropes. An impressive résumé, no doubt.

“Her legacy is far bigger than the sport of snowboarding”

Jamie is grounded to the point of possibly even underselling her talent, she’s the antithesis of a boastful winner, and on the scarce occasion it happens, she’s graceful in defeat- a rare quality for one so accustomed to gracing the top of the podium. At 31 years old, Jamie has been dominating the game for over a decade, and she refuses to let up even the tiniest amount of steam, that’s the grit and perseverance that’s allowed her to become the record breaking athlete she is today.

Jamie’s involvement in community outreach programmes, snow-based philanthropy and climate based initiatives have also made it crystal clear that her legacy is far bigger than the sport of snowboarding.

Oakley are recognised globally as the leaders in sports eyewear innovation, but as their apparel and softgoods line continues to grow and plant roots in snowboarding it’s never been more clear that that’s not the only feather in their cap.

Never content to rest on their laurels, Oakley have always been at the cutting edge of the industry, breaking new ground and pushing the boundaries of what’s to be expected from your gear. For 2021/22, Oakley have teamed up with some of their most prolific athletes, including Jamie Anderson, to create a line of Outerwear that embodies each athlete’s vibe and persona. With the arrival of their signature athlete outerwear collection, Oakley have solidified their role as a major player in the technical clothing sphere.

“The waterproof rating and insulation in the jacket and pants means they’re ideal for resort riding”

With one of the strongest, most diverse teams in snowboarding that focuses not only on podium toppers but up and comers and legacy athletes, Oakley has a continuous feedback loop that allows them to fine tune even the smallest details to deliver the ultimate in performance and practicality.

So, what exactly does a world renowned rider like Jamie Anderson choose to wear when given the opportunity to create their own line? For this season Jamie is rocking the Oakley Ollie Jacket with the Oakley Jasmine Insulated Pant. The waterproof rating and insulation in the jacket and pants means they’re ideal for resort riding, enough warmth for ripping around during the mid-winter freeze, but the venting makes it versatile enough that you can wear it when the spring slush hits. Both the pants and the jacket come with 60G insulation, which for most places, with the right layers should be enough for pretty much every day of the season, without being overly bulky or cumbersome.

The Jamie Anderson Pro Model colour choice is an aqua blue and “her love of geometric patterns has been mixed with a cheetah print” for the detailing (it goes great with gold by the way…), but it does come in a more neutral ‘Blackout’ option if you’re looking for something that’ll more easily fly under the radar.

It’s made using 57% recycled polyester made from post-consumer plastic bottles, plus the added durability of the set means you’ll have to replace it less often. No garments are perfect, but Oakley are making steps in the right direction to minimise their footprint and try to ensure we get snow to play in for many years to come.

“As with all Oakley goggles, its tricked out with their contrast enhancing Prizm Lens technology”

Jamie’s goggle of choice is usually the Line Miner, a solid favourite among the team despite its extremely modest price tag, Oakley have given Jamie her very own signature Line Miner this season to round out the set. It’s modus operandi is providing maximum peripheral view by pulling the goggle closer to the face, allowing for increased downwards and side to side viewing capability. As with all Oakley goggles, it’s tricked out with their contrast enhancing Prizm Lens technology, boosting and blocking specific wavelengths of light to allow you to more easily discern between textures and terrain.

At this year’s Olympic Games in Beijing, you might have noticed Jamie, as well as other Oakley team riders including hometown hero Su Yiming, rocking some extra funky gear. Oakley’s Unity Collection is a special drop of eyewear and helmets that celebrates every athletes individuality, whilst paying homage to the sports and passions that bring them all together.
