Snowboard Spring Break 2019

Freshies in May - Spring Break 2019 is a wrap!

A mixture of feelings came rushing through us as we knew that the event that marks the end of the season was upon us, Snowboard Spring Break. Yet again we’ve managed to come out alive from this marvellous madness of an event, only to be left feeling slightly empty inside. Returning to reality after four days of intense snowboarding, followed by intense beer drinking, has left the Whitelines crew feeling like a shell of our former selves. However, we can’t wait to be back for more next year!

So, what went down this year at Snowboard Spring Break? First of all, the event got relocated. After years of mischief in Kaunertal, this year it was time for Mayrhofen to welcome a bunch of UK nutters into their tiny village. Gasthof Zillertal was the base for a whole lot of snowboarders during the four days of the event. The lovely event crew made sure there was plenty of action to keep us busy, including a very intense beer pong tournament, the legendary garage night (which this year sadly went down without any actual garage music) and of course, a Game of Thrones screening to keep the GoT fans happy. We forever remain grateful that the Gasthof crew put up with our misbehaviour while still serving us burgers and beers with a smile on their face.

The event itself took place up at the Hintertux Glacier, which is only a half an hour drive from the valley. More than a handful of brands, 22 to be exact, were to be seen handing out their boards, bindings, boots and goggles to snowboarders who were eager to try out the new gear. What got everyone even more stoked on the event was the weather – freshies in May! Two days of heavy snowfall followed by a Bluebird Tuesday made for a great ending to this season.

As well the usual crew we also had the pleasure of spending time up the mountain with some of our favourite UK riders: Mia Brookes, The Simpson Brothers and Billy Morgan all made sure they wouldn’t miss this week for the world. We also discovered Mia Brooke’s hidden talent in pool – this little ripper is one to watch in more than just snowboarding!
