Who Is The Rome Artifact For?

If you’re always in the park spreading more butter than a Lurpac advert then this one’s for you.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

It goes without saying that if you’re looking for a board to crank presses on then you want a true twin shape so that you aren’t thrown off by differing flex in the nose and tail and thankfully that’s what you’ve got here. Switch, regular, off the nose, off the tail, it doesn’t matter it will always have the same reliable feel underfoot.

Not only has it got a soft flex rating but also utilises a Double Kick in the nose and tail which basically divides the nose/tail into two separate, flat sections at differing angles rather than one big scoop. The end result means that you’ve got really nice, custom designed sweet-spot to lock into when your pressing.

The Stay Positive camber profile keeps it classic with a full length positive camber. Something that’s not quite as common nowadays, particularly in park boards. But we think it’s a great choice, you can’t beat the classics and although a traditional camber might not be as forgiving as hybrids or rockers, but you’ve got to remember that this is still a soft board with some torsional play which, in itself creates a little room to force through a sloppy landing when they do happen.

It also means that you can still get a hefty chunk of pop out of such a soft board for the booter line without it getting all wobbly underfoot.

Construction and Materials

What goes up, must come down and the Artifact has your back. The Stomp Core is made of 100% Poplar and designed to be super stable and predictable so that you don’t get any unexpected punishment from your board in the landings.

You’ll also find a couple of Impact Plates under the bindings that take the bite out of a slappy landing and dampen the ride down for less chatter underfoot.

Surrounding the core are a couple of sheets of Biax fibreglass that add some torsional play to the boards response for a more “skatey” feel in the centre of the board. While a Bamboo Hotrod in the nose and tail adds some more pop to the board without diminishing the soft flex in presses.

Like all good jib boards there’s a PowerSlide extruded base on the bottom, that’s super durable to handle most knocks and bumps. But should you manage to ding it on something it’s also easily repairable.

Roundup

The Artifact has been a staple weapon in the park arsenal for a while now and it’s easy to see why… it makes life as easy as possible for you to get the trick.

It’s got a fun, reliable response underneath thanks to the true twin shape and core tech, can lock you into presses with a stable precision and has enough pop to get you skyward when you need to.

What more is there to say? It’s a behemoth in the park and might just take your tricks to the next level.
