It’s a little unfair to pigeonhole the Jackpot as a park board. Sure, its true twin shape has been designed to slay transitions, but YES have injected it with their famous secret sauce called MidBite. That means it turns like it’s on rails, elevating the Jackpot to all-round resort weapon status.

Who Is The YES. Jackpot For?

Seasonaires who’ve sat on every seat on the park chair but who know all the best side hits on the home run will love the Jackpot’s agile yet stable nature.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

As mentioned, the Jackpot is a true twin – which almost feels like a rarity these days, when every other board seems to be vying for the ‘craziest shape’ award. Of course, it’s not that simple. YES. shook up the world of sidecut design when they unveiled MidBite (and UnderBite) a few years back, and it’s present here. Essentially the edge is pulled in between the inserts, narrowing the waist width to accelerate edge transitions while retaining the stability of a full width nose and tail.

From tip to tail they’ve introduced a classic camber to the Jackpot for 2021/22, which underlines its carving credentials and helps distinguish it from the otherwise similar Dicey model (which features a more relaxed camrock profile). If you want explosive turns and snap off the lip, this is the one.

Construction and Materials

The liveliest of rides starts with a full length poplar wood core that’s lightweight and poppy. This is wrapped in a triax topsheet for a little more torsional stiffness to ensure it feels stable on edge – useful when you’re setting up for a spin at mach 10, or just charging down your favourite trail with your crew. The Jackpot’s longitudinal flex is pretty responsive but there’s no carbon in the layup so you don’t have to have the legs of an ox to load ollies or presses. Finishing things off is a sintered base that will keep you clearing the knuckle with ease – provided you remember to wax it.

Roundup

When you give a board a name like the Jackpot, you’d better hope it ticks all the boxes. This latest version certainly does that, providing freestyle-focused riders with a nimble, versatile deck that’s loaded with proven technology and more fun than a night out in Vegas. Cheaper, too.
