Part of the Yuki Threads Heritage line, the Northbound Jacket is a safe bet when looking for a quality snowboard jacket that isn’t just well fitted but also sustainably made. Pair this up with the Yuki Threads Northbound Bib pants and you’ll be covered in quality from head to toe.
A classic fit, a waterproof/breathability rating of 15K/15K, a big chunk of excellent features and loads of eco and ethical points are pretty much the Northbound jacket in a nutshell. First of all, the waterproof/breathability rating is high enough for the jacket to keep you dry whether you’re dealing with a wet snowstorm or charging through the resort on a warm spring day.
“For the DWR coating, Yuki Thread is using an eco-friendly alternative”
For the DWR coating, Yuki Thread is using an eco-friendly alternative with C0, meaning the coating lacks carbon in its chemical backbone. Instead, the brand has decided to go for a Fluorocarbon free water repellent coating to keep the water at bay.
As far as features go, the Northbound jacket has got plenty. A removable powder skirt to keep the snow out, ergonomically tailored arms for better movement, lycra cuffs with thumbholes, a pocket to store your lift pass and another one with a microfibre wipe to keep your goggles clear. For the fabric, Yuki Threads has used a 100% recycled canvas, putting a few plastic bottles to good use (nice one Yuki Threads).
Whilst we’re stoked that the brand is playing their part in the sustainability fight (even if they don’t like to boast about it), Yuki Threads has also taken it upon themselves to fight the good fight when it comes human rights. The fashion industry is known to be one of the worst when it comes to human rights, which is why every piece of clothing has to be ethically manufactured in order to carry a Yuki Threads label. These guys go the extra mile with Fair Trade, and we’re hoping more and more of us will be willing to pay that little bit extra for a product that has been made in a certified fair workplace.
