Why we chose the Yuki Threads Legit Snowboard Mitts: Durable, sustainably produced and part of 1% for the planet.
Hailing from the Land Down Under, Yuki Threads only properly reached the eyes and ears of the Whitelines team this year. This Aussie company is a firm believer in a more sustainable future. All of their outerwear, including the Legit Mitt, reflect their respect towards the greatest mother of them all – Mother Nature.
During the past few years, many snowboard outerwear brands have increased their social contribution by readjusting their manufacturing processes or becoming part of organisations that fight against global warming, child labour, or other issues of importance. Yuki Threads is doing it all.
“All of their outerwear, including the Legit Mitt, reflect their respect towards the greatest mother of them all – Mother Nature”
The Legit Mitts are manufactured using partly recycled fabrics. The 80g Thinsulate insulation is both bluesign approved and recycled (the warmth of the mitt, in effect, comes from repurposed single-use plastic bottles). The Yuki logo labels have also been made out of recycled polyester.
Ensuring the mitt’s durability is the high-quality goatskin leather that’s been used for the outer fabric. On top of that, both the palm and thumb have been reinforced with leather to make the mitts even longer-lasting. Adding to their potential to last more than one season is the waterproof and breathable membrane that rates up to 10K on both fronts.
By making sure their products are ethically manufactured, whilst also being part of the organisation 1% for the planet, Yuki Threads are clearly doing their part for society.
The more durable the mitts, the less frequently you have to buy a new pair. This is good from a sustainability point of view and is why product durability is so key to humanity’s future. If you want to play your part, we encourage you to invest in a pair of proper mitts that really last. The Yuki Thread Legit Mitt is a good place to start.
