UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 YES Greats here

We were a little disappointed to see that the ever-surprising YES Greats had essentially recycled the previous year’s design for 2017/18. Still, it’s a rad looking board, and even better to ride.

“It’s one for powerful riders only, but the blend of rocker and camber means that nothing is off the table”

The park credentials of the YES Greats are undeniable. Stiffer than average, it’s one for powerful riders only, but the blend of rocker and camber means that nothing is off the table. There’s plenty of edge grip for setting a spin, and pressing the nose and tail requires less effort than you’d expect.

The sidecut radius is tighter and shorter on the heel edge than the toe, something more riders are turning to as it better caters to the forces of the two turns. The combination of carbon and triax fibreglass delivers excellent response, so when you’re blasting the piste at full speed you’ll love how the YES Greats handle. The high-end sintered base will come in handy here too.

Still, it’s the park where this one belongs, and its lightweight core – poplar with bamboo and paulownia additions – will have you popping to the moon. The YES Greats for 2017/18 may not be as fresh as in past seasons, but it’s no less stellar a choice for confident freestyle riders.

Tester’s Verdict

Darren Williamsthesnowboardshop.co.uk

“If you’ve been riding a while, you’ll know about Un-inc and how it brought high-end park boards to the masses. The Greats is an asymmetric twin which is more than worthy of continuing the legacy.

“It’s fast and carves really well despite a firmer flex than other freestyle boards…”

It’s fast and carves really well despite a firmer flex than other freestyle boards on the market, and it’s still super playful at slower speeds when you want to jib about the hill. The asym makes it feel well balanced, and the triax/carbon glass gives it a responsive ride.

The 154 is bright pink and has a pig on it so it may be a tough sell, but that said if you know the history, you’ll be all over this.”
