“If you love jumps and rails but you’re not yet ready to send it over the pro line then you’ll get on just fine on the Dicey”

Who Is The YES. Dicey For?

If you love jumps and rails but you’re not yet ready to send it over the pro line then you’ll get on just fine on the Dicey.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

The Dicey’s true twin outline is exactly the same as the Jackpot and obviously perfect for switch riding. It’s got a Camrock profile that mixes trad camber between the feet with rocker towards the nose and tail. Profiles like this are often deployed on powder models to aid float, but in this case the real benefit is how relaxed it feels to ride; you’re less likely to hook up when you don’t land perfectly straight down the fall line, and it’s easier to load ollies and nose presses because you’re not fighting against a coiled spring so much.

As with the Jackpot, the Dicey benefits from YES’s amazing MidBite sidecut, which pulls in the edge through the middle section of the board to make it behave more like a narrower model (as in, rapid edge to edge). At the same time the nose and tail offer a stable platform to tackle any feature in the park and beyond.

Construction and Materials

The centre of the Dicey is 100% poplar – as the fella on the Death Star might put it: it’s an older core, sir, but it checks out. The topsheet is constructed using biax weave fibreglass, which is a little more forgiving; indeed the overall flex of this board is firmly in the ‘playful’ zone so any level of rider can jump on it and have fun. It’s made for butters, jumps and general jibbing tomfoolery, with a bombproof extruded base that’s not the fastest but will handle all the knocks from a full day (or winter) in the park – plus you don’t have to be anal about waxing it. We love the graphic, too.

Roundup

Despite the name, the Dicey isn’t really a gamble at all. With proven technology like its full wood core and a true twin silhouette, it’s a safe bet for any rider that wants a confidence-inspiring deck to expand their trick bag.
