Best Women’s Snowboards 2018-2019

Chosen by the Whitelines Test Team

Though it’s not always the case, more often than not female snowboarders are better off looking at women’s specific models. Such boards’ design processes have taken into account the on-average lighter, smaller frames of the XX sisterhood and have tailored their constructions accordingly.

Unisex boards with broad size ranges can work equally well, especially for advanced female riders, but even then the waist width or sidecut might not be optimally engineered to their bodies. The good news is that these days there are brands making boards specifically for girls that span a wide range of riding styles and experience levels.

While inevitably there are still a few companies who think the way to a snowboard woman’s heart is through ultra-girly names and/or graphics – no doubt true for some – there are also enough less ‘fabulous’ designs out there now for women who don’t want to be riding a pink unicorn called ‘The Rainbow’.

Take a scroll through what our testers picked out as the best women’s snowboards they tested of the 2018-2019 bunch.

The Best Women’s Snowboards For Winter 2018/19

Bataleon Storm Women’s Snowboard 2018-2019

PRICE: £459/€529

This new all-rounder from Bataleon naturally features the brand’s Triple Base Technology – and it’s been tweaked to make it more directional in nature.

The result is an almost-twin board that can be ridden all over the mountain, but that definitely has the edge over similar shapes when there’s pow to be had.

Burton Talent Scout Women’s Snowboard 2018-2019

PRICE: £439/€499

The whip of choice for Anna Gasser and Chloe Kim is as pure a freestyle board as you’re likely to find anywhere.

Featuring lots of the B’s best tech, including a few female-specific tweaks, it’s tough enough for the biggest features in the park.

GNU Ladies Choice Women’s Snowboard 2018-2019

PRICE: £499/€559

Slightly less conventional is Jamie Anderson’s preferred platform, the Gnu Ladies Choice. As well as an asymmetrical shape, it has a rocker section between the feet.

There’s no shortage of pop, though, and that additional bend makes pressing on boxes and rails (or even the piste) that much easier. So as far as park riding is concerned, it still ticks all the right boxes.

Head Stella Women’s Snowboard 2018-2019

PRICE: £239/€299

Just starting out? As far as price and performance are concerned, nothing we tested this year comes close to the Head Stella.

The flat profile is progression-friendly, and the relatively simple construction delivers a stable, predictable ride. It’s also lively enough for advanced riders to keep alongside their pow board as a resort-days option.

Jones Dream Catcher Women’s Snowboard 2018-2019

PRICE: £395/€449

In Jones’ impressive fleet of women’s boards, the Dream Catcher is perhaps the one best suited to all-mountain riding.

From its bio-bean topsheet to its carbon-enhanced base, it’s a top quality package for a reasonable price. And for 2018/19 the size range has been extended, so more riders than ever can make this their daily driver.

Ride Hellcat Women’s Snowboard 2018-2019

PRICE: £409/€499

The clue’s in the name; this one is a charger. If you’re after an all-mountain option that can handle the big stuff, the Hellcat is it.

Built to take big knocks whilst remaining light and nimble, this is a serious board for serious snowboarders.

Rome Kashmir Women’s Snowboard 2018-2019

PRICE: £349/€399

With its flat base and true twin shape, the Rome Kashmir is well-placed to cover all bases.

The pointy ends help a little in the powder, but generally what you’ve got here is a quality all-terrain vehicle. For the asking price, not much comes close.

Salomon Pillow Talk Women’s Snowboard 2018-2019

PRICE: £399/€449

A sister to the excellent Sick Stick, the Pillow Talk is all about the powder. There’s a shorter, wider version for the trees, or a more conventional shape that can do it all.
