If anybody was still wondering where the footage is of last months sick Whitelines cover featuring Xavier de le Rue is, look no further. That’s right, check out This Is My Winter in its entirety right here.
The film, produced by TimeLine Films, documents Xavier and his crew on some of the gnarliest big mountain missions ever captured on film. Because of the poor snow conditions in Europe that they faced, the team were forced to delve further and further into the backcountry, the lines becoming more and more creative the further they went. After watching, it’s not difficult to understand why de le Rue was voted the 2010 Big Mountain Rider of the Year by Snowboarder Magazine. Just check out the opening section of the movie, where he is stranded on an icy peak with only one ice axe to support him and no obvious way out.
For a more detailed insight into the French backcountry legend’s life and projects, check out our featured interview with Xavier de le Rue in Issue 99 of Whitelines.
This Is My Winter is also the freeriding section of Standard Films’s TB20.
