The Whitelines Rail Jam will be returning to its spiritual home in Kaunertal Austria for Spring Break at the start of May.
After last year’s bangin’ final, we’re stepping things up once again this year, with a little help from our friends at DC and Monster Energy (who’ll be helping provide a big cash prize pot), new brand Boom Gloves, shaping experts Schneestren and of course the hosts, Snowpark Kaunertal.
We’ve also added a twist to this year’s event – it’ll be a Team Battle. Things will kick off as per usual with a 45 minute jam session. But for the final, two team captains will pick out riders school-playground style. They’ll then nominate members of their team to face off against each other, with the best trick from each pair winning a point for their side.
The winning team will take home cold hard cash, as well as fistfuls of free drink tokens for the now legendary after-party at the Pfiffalm Bar in town.
We’ll also be giving away spot prizes from our sponsors for the best tricks throughout the jam session.
This new format was tried and tested at The Brits, where a UK team was pitched against a French one, and it worked a treat. It not only made for some interesting tactical decisions on the part of the captains, but also some pretty sick action for those spectating.
Not only that, but spectators (and riders) will be treated to free hotdogs and free beer while the comp’s going on. Yep, that’s right, free beer!
Things get going on Sunday 5th May (the first day of Spring Break) at 2.30pm on a sick, specially prepared stairset next to the carpark on the Kaunertal glacier. Once we’ve wrapped things up, awarded the prizes and collected the bodies from the battlefield, we’ll all be heading down to the Pfiffalm where things will get going at 8.
There’ll be banging tunes, classic snowboard movies on the screens and a load more free booze, so you can expect a bit of a Christmas 1914 atmosphere, with enemies high-fiving each other and generally loving it.
Oh, and we’ll also be hosting the un-official British Championships for Hammerschlagen – that game they love in Austria which involves hammering a nail into a block of wood. Plus, (did we mention this already?) there’ll be free booze!
If you haven’t yet booked your ticket to Spring Break, then you can get on their website and get involved here – it’s open to all and with events running all week will not be one to miss. Specially when the accommodation and lift-pass packages start at a mere £149!
