Whitelines Guinness World Record Snowboard Rail Attempt – Video

http://mpora.com/videos/5Zg2sXaBS Exactly a week ago, Calum Paton smashed the world record for the longest rail ever ridden on a snowboard after sliding 78 metres down a monster 90 metre rail at Milton Keynes. Here is the video of the night by Gonzilla.tv!

Faced with the gargantuan rail, designed by Damian Doyle especially for this event, sponsored by Whitelines, EA Sports‘ new SSX game and the Sno!Zone, riders found it difficult to create a balance between speed and technicality, with most struggling to break the 20 metre mark. The night started with everyone fully pumped as the MK slope was taken over by snowboarders eager to take home the £1000 cash prize money and were suitably amped by the massive sound system and DJs at the bottom of the course.

However, as the night wore on with nobody making it past 55 metres, the mood started to dip and, despite the best efforts and encouragement of the MCs, people were starting to doubt whether the record would actually be broken and that the night would all be in vain.

Step up Calum Paton. With the night all but over, and riders and organisers minds wandering towards the bar and comfy beds, the youngster managed to lock into a 5050 that shattered the record held by Spaniard Alejandro Benito (67 metres), set in Madrid in 2009.
