The Weston Backwoods is a powhunter. Pure and simple. It’s designed to surf and slash through nipple deep champagne powder, getting barreled at altitude and collecting faceshots like pokemon cards. But don’t think it’s all fun and games, thanks to the premium construction and stiffer flex, it’s still high-performance enough to charge full blast when the tide’s low.

As an aside, the size range on this thing is just insane. Up to a 167 wide?! Not just unisex, this thing is basically unispecies, even Chewbacca could ride one.

Who Is The Weston Backwoods For?

Your olfactory senses are highly tuned for sniffing out powder stashes even when they’re all seemingly tracked out. Powder’s your numero uno, but you’ll take digging trenches on groomers and hooning over cat tracks when it’s not readily available.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

he Backwoods excels in the deep snow, taking on a really powder-centric shape with an elongated, rockered nose and a stubby, blunted tail that’s perfect for slashing windlips and one way tickets to the white room.

The shape and width alone would have you floating, but just in case, Weston have tricked it out with a big old taper running to the tail, plus a 1cm setback. Together, these will do all the heavy lifting when you hit the pow, so you just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.

When you do decide to venture back onto the hardpack, the dominant midbody camber comes into its own. The stability, aggression and dynamic energy of a camber lends itself to deep carves and full throttle charging.

Construction and Materials

We’ve all had a tail heavy ladning at one point or another or had the tail wash out mid-way through a turn, but Weston have added two carbon beams running out from the rear insert pack to the Backwoods. Beefing up this crucial area to pump in and out of turns, or to save your bacon when you don’t quite land square.

A board that’s designed to dip though the trees and ride early season powder is bound to take a few dings, that’s just the nature of the beast, so to make sure your beloved stallion lasts as long as you want it to, Weston have made the Backwoods rugged as a lumberjack’s axe. Stitched tips, UHMW sidewalls, rugged polyamide topsheet and full wood core all do their part to keep the Backwoods the gift that keeps giving.
