Volcom’s Stoney Mountain Chalet

All time conditions in Volcom's very own slice of freeride paradise

We debated about posting this to the website at all. Maybe it was rubbing just a little too much salt in the wounds of those who never made it out to the Alps this month. Even for those who did, would it simply quash their bragging rights into insignificance?

Picture the scene: you’re deep in the Austrian Alps during the peak of its record breaking snow-fall.

You’re staying in the idyllic sounding Stoney Mountain Lodge, the hub for all things Volcom, located only minutes away from some of the area’s best freeriding.

There are rooms (yes, plural rooms) full of next season’s clothing lines and snowboards to equip yourself with for each day on the mountain.

Once suited up, you head out with the Volcom team, ride endless tree lines and drop cliffs into bottomless landings, all in front of the lens of photographer/filmer Vernon Deck.

Oh, and you wake up to resets of between 30 and 80 centimetres each morning.

For two weeks.

Well, for the lucky ones who bagged a trip to Volume I of Volcom’s Stoney Chalet test week this was the ridiculously enviable hand they were dealt.

In conditions where there appeared to be as much snow overhead as underfoot, it looked like the crew put the new clothing line through its paces and it lived up to the test.

For those of you searching for what to wear for your next trip to the mountains, check out what Volcom outerwear made it into our 2018/19 Buyer’s Guide.
