Why we chose the Vimana Scando V2 Snowboard Bindings: A bang for your buck binding that over delivers in every aspect

There’s no denying that snowboarding can be a hellishly expensive hobby, all money well spent of course, but it certainly can leave your wallet hurting. The Vimana Scando V2 breezes in at the sub-200 mark, but unlike some other budget options, they aren’t reserved for solely beginners. The only thing entry level about this binding is the price.

“It’s also virtually indestructible, so you can go full HAM when you’re strapped in”

Who Is The Vimana Scando V2 For?

Riders who prioritise great all-mountain performance at an even better price.

Baseplate

All Vimana products have a slight freestyle twist to them, and the Scando bindings are made from ultra lightweight urethane to allow for loads of playful jibby riding. Not only does this softer baseplate material allow for throwing down in the park, but it’s also virtually indestructible, so you can go full HAM when you’re strapped in.

The baseplate is pre-curved, allowing the board to flex naturally underfoot and feature foam padding to soak up chatter and take some of the slap out of heavy landings. They’re not the most tech-heavy bindings on the market, but that’s part of their appeal- it’s no fuss, no frills riding. Taking things back to basics in a good way.

“You’re getting premium comfort for a fraction of the price”

Straps and Highbacks

As a stripped back, budget option you might expect the Scando’s to be uncomfortable, but with their super malleable Team Straps you’re getting premium comfort for a fraction of the price. They’re form fitting, and the honeycomb structure allows them to support and wrap round your boot, without creating pressure points of hotspots and some flex for tweakability. They’re finished off with Vimana’s lightweight alloy buckles, which are strong and sturdy, but not at the expense of significant weight penalties.

The highback delivers power when going edge to edge, with some extra padding to take some of the brunt when you’re riding through chop and slop. There’s not loads of adjustment here, but you’re able to crank down your forward lean easily, and the straps are tool free to play around with.

“For the average rider, the regular version should be more than enough to rip on the hill”

Roundup

It’s worth noting that there is an upgraded Gold version of the Scando coming in at €249, which is beefed up with carbon and kevlar for really next level performance, but for the average rider, the regular version should be more than enough to rip on the hill. There really is nothing to complain about here, especially for the price.

Trade Secrets

Tronna – Lead Guitarist, Vimana

“We always aim to have our bindings give you the ultimate response without interfering with the natural flex of our boards. The base is designed to give you perfect edge to edge response, the new straps give you dynamic flex meaning they give in according to applied pressure. This way the Scando gives you ultimate response while still leaving flex to really tweak out a method. Comfort with no pressure points and off course 100% vegan as all our other products.

Built from Urethane with some secret ingredients make it close to indestructible, thats why we offer lifetime warranty on breakage.”
