Why we chose the Vimana Meta Snowboard: Scandinavian precision, freestyle prowess and all-mountain adaptability, what a combo.

A stalwart of the Scandi snowboard scene, Vimana is celebrating its 6th year by releasing their best line of product to date. With a core team of progressive freestyle rippers and a growing popularity throughout Europe and the rest of the world, Vimana are making big moves, with their all-terrain charger, the Meta, at the forefront.

It’s an all-mountain snowboard, but like all Vimana products, it definitely has freestyle elements at its core, so whether it’s an occasional lap through the park or spending all day making the whole mountain your playground, the Meta is primed and ready.

“The reactive layup makes it bit of a stretch for novices, who’ll get taken for a ride, rather than the other way around”

Who Is The Vimana Meta For?

Thanks to its stiffer flex and pretty aggressive profile the Meta is suited to experienced riders who know exactly what they want from a snowboard. The reactive layup makes it bit of a stretch for novices, who’ll get taken for a ride, rather than the other way around.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

The directional outline is where the Meta finds its feet in powder, a pretty subtle taper runs from tip to tail, plus the early rise in the nose. The added surface area up front helps to lift it out the snow, while sinking the tail, making life easy as you slash and surf your way down the hill.

Although it’s not a twin, the Meta still brings the heat when it comes to throwing down in the park. Spin to win fans will appreciate the blunt nose and tail, reducing swing weight for more control in the air, without affecting the overall on-snow feel. And the positive camber running through the board is always pre-loaded for popping onto features and boosting off lips.

Construction and Materials

The Meta sits at the top end of the flex scale, and as such it can be a pretty powerful beast when you push it. This is thanks in part to its Ultralight Wood Core, which as you can probably guess, is pretty damn light. It’s bolstered by the carbon and Kevlar layup, stiffening the board without the hefty weight penalty of some materials.

Topped off with a super slick Sintered 7200 base, the Meta is most at home when its charging hard and fast. This is where the reactive fibreglass layer really comes into its own, when you’re going mach 10 you need to be able to react to external stimuli at the drop of a hat, and the Meta allows for just that. Precise, powerful and pretty damn fast, an ideal combo for a heavy-duty all-mountain machine.

Roundup

As with all Vimana snowboards, the graphics are from the hugely talented Peter-John de Villiers aka The Shallowtree. From podiums to powder fields, the Meta transcends labels. It’s the fabled one snowboard to do it all, not an easy thing to achieve, but we had a blast on the Meta all over the hill.

Trade Secrets

Tronna – Lead Guitarist, Vimana

“It all started with Brage Richenberg wanting to change his model from twin to a directional platform. We worked closely together to build a directional all mountain board that could work in the park but also kill in the backcountry. The result is a true quiver killer, one board to rule them all. Taking the sidecut inspiration from our most balanced board the Clone, Early rise nose from our Vega and Astro, and power charge from the Vufo. We made two versions, The B-Rage and The Meta – The Meta being the supercharged version for intermediate to experienced riders.

We strictly build dream boards that our team riders use, this is definitely at the top of that list.”
