Until now, however, pictures and video have been in short supply. Thankfully for the collective sanity of the snowboard community, the first Supernatural video highlights have just arrived. It looks like they really couldn’t have asked for better conditions, with bluebird skies and plenty of powder. The course itself looks as mad we expected, though it does look like the giant wooden hits were a bit, well, hit and miss in terms of doability – not surprising when you’re building in the summer using little more than guesswork and a whole load of chainsaws. Still no word on whether the two-hour highlights programme scheduled for national broadcast in the USA is going to run on a UK TV channel, but we’ll keep you posted. In the meantime the highly efficient PR folk at Red Bull are promising more web videos and reaction soon.

The competition had a week-long weather window, but since the conditions were so good from the start it wasn’t needed… which makes us wonder, what have the riders been doing for the rest of the week? We like to think they’re still out there – 16 of the world’s best riders, shredding the crap out of a perfect mountain without a camera or reporter in sight.
