Those of us not lucky enough to live within spitting distance of a snowy hill know the pure dread that can be associated with travelling to your snowboard trip. Lost baggage, flight delays and even the mere mention of Geneva airport are enough to strike fear into the heart of even the hardiest traveller. Let alone trying to decide which resort you and the homies are gonna hit up.
Victor Daviet has decided to do things a little differently. He’s back with the second instalment of his docu-series “Trip Roulette” where he leaves it all up to that ubiquitous madame Lady Luck. Three wheels, three choices- Where, How and Who.
The locations are a mixture of snowboard hotspots (Japan, Canada, France) and some less traditional options (Greece, Africa, Corsica). All the methods of travel are eco-friendly, from camels, to sail boats to paragliding. The potential companions are an eclectic mix of snowboard royalty, models, pro surfers… and Obama.
In this episode Victor’s wheels of fortune score him a snowboarding trip to Greece, via horseback, with Niels Schack, Nils Mindnich and Captain Phil Jacques joining the merry band for good measure. Ride ‘em cowboy.
In a day and age in which we are living in an actual climate emergency, it’s cool to see a high-profile athlete really promoting a more sustainable way of shredding. Yes, we know it’s not realistic for everyone to sack off their car and ‘High Ho Silver Away’ to their next snowboard trip. But Victor’s shown that it’s possible to travel in a more conscientious fashion, and he’s done it in an interesting and funny way. Props to you Monsieur Daviet.
After the long slog on horseback, the boys arrive at their destination and proceed to rip shit up on their snowboards. They spend several days travelling to different locations to sample some local powder and parties. Honourable mentions have to go to the picturesque sunset kicker session and the multitude of natural features the boys sent it off through the whole video.
Bravo Victor and team. To tide you over until the next installment you can re-watch Victor and Jérôme Tanon in Episode 1 here.
