Who Is The Vans Verse For?

As the most responsive boot in the Vans line, the Verse aren’t going to be for everyone. Riders with a lot of experience under their belt will appreciate the aggressive flex and technical features, those who are still finding their feet might find themselves a little out of their depth.

Shell & Outsole

Just looking at the Verse you can see exactly where they’re built for- the rugged backcountry, where performance and protection are the most critical aspects of all your kit. The boot has an independently functioning shroud, with D-Ring gaiter hooks for that extra level of protection when you’re bootpacking or skinning, plus the toe box is reinforced to manage the extra abrasion of constantly kicking footholds.

A V3 Ultimate Waffle Outsole offers extra traction through the deep lug pattern underfoot, plus a layer of cushioning to dampen vibrations and soak up slap from chundery terrain or heavy landings. Vans use a dual Boa on the Verse, linked by Vans’ Custom Slide Guide both functioning independently to allow for microadjustment of the fit at a moments notice.

Liner

Vans know you’re going to be taking these boots to Mother Nature’s least hospitable locations, so of course it’s going to be cold, wet, and pretty miserable if your feet get soaked, so they’ve tricked out the Verse with V3 Ultracush with TNF FlashDry Liner.

This is their top-of-the-line option, with moisture wicking technology, neoprene toebox, dual density foam, and it’s fully heat mouldable for extra comfort. Plus, all Vans boots now come as standard with an updated thermal retention layer between the shell and liner to really lock in the heat on those freezing cold morning missions.

Internally the Verse has its own liner lacing system, locking your foot into the boot to avoid heel lift and a power strap around the top for some extra security. Over the course of time, its normal that boots will start to lose some of their stiffness, so Vans have added in removable tongue stiffeners to bolster the flex down the line, or just rock them in from the get go if you’re an aggressive rider looking for some extra juice.

Roundup

Basically, if you’re riding park all day or looking for something to just cruise on groomers, these will probably be a bit too much. But if you’re heading out to the skin track, boot packing for fresh lines, or threading the needle down icy couloirs in the backcountry then the Vans Verse are about as good as you can get on your feet.
