The Vans Hi-Standard Pro makes its name juxtaposing old school vibes with new school tech. Despite the deluge of speed laces and BOA’s flooding the boot industry, traditional laces aren’t to be sniffed at, they’re not only the most reliable method of fastening, but also the most adjustable. An external power strap backs up the laces, cinching the tongue into the liner, putting paid to hot spots of pressure and painful shin bang.

Internally the Hi-Standard Pro is kitted out with Vans’ V2 UltraCush Liner, using merino wool to regulate the temperature and improve the straight out the box comfort. Merino is an incredibly breathable and porous material, which works to wick sweat away from the skin, reducing that janky damp feeling after a long day on the hill. The fibres function independently by crimping in on themselves when it’s cold, sealing heat inside the boot, and opening out to allow for increased airflow when it’s warmer.

The liner boot itself is fully heat mouldable, forming round your foot to eliminate dead zones and provide a snug fit. The neoprene toe box can expand slightly to allow you to ride a smaller footprint without cramping up front. EVA foam cross braces in the back to lock your ankle into the boot, reducing heel lift and giving you ultimate control and response when you’re going edge to edge.

Underfoot you’ll find Vans’ ergonomically designed V2 PopCush Footbed, utilising dual density foam to provide stability and cushioning. It’ll take some of the slap out of heavy landings, and offers support to reduce foot fatigue, helping you to ride harder for longer.
