This weekend will see the return of the epic annual snowboard-fest that is the Vans Dawn of the Shred. Bringing together some of the best riders that the UK has to offer, and throwing in a good dose of the legendary Scottish spirit (by which we mean atmosphere, not whisky – that comes later) the organising crew have made this one of the coolest events in the UK snowboarding calendar in the last few years.
What with all the snow that’s fallen on Scotland in the past couple of weeks, Saturday’s competition looks set to be the best yet. The park shapers are promising a monstrous kicker. Rumour has it that it’ll be the biggest the UK has ever seen! On top of this, they’ve been beavering away busily on the rest of the course at Cairngorm mountain as well, to ensure that this be one of the sickest UK parks ever.
The competition’s sponsors, including Vans, TSA, Pro-Tec and Dalikfodda have put forward some sick prizes for each of the five categories – Men’s, Women’s, Junior Boys, Junior Girls and Youth – meaning there’s plenty of incentive to get involved. Registration for the open format competition starts at 8.30 on Saturday 10th, with Sunday wisely being kept free as a bad weather contigency day.
