Why We Chose The Transform Gloves Budget Smuggler Mitts: Cheap and cheerful, two of our favourite words!

We all love snowboarding, right? That’s why you’re here reading this instead of filing that report your boss asked you to do an hour ago. But damn, it ain’t a cheap hobby. Every season prices seem to rise, and it can become difficult to keep up with it all.

When you’re forced to choose between a season pass for your favourite resort and a down payment on a house, you gotta start pinching the pennies somewhere. But that shouldn’t have to come at the expense of your comfort or your style. Luckily, that’s where our buddies at Transform come in- introducing the Budget Smuggler Mitt. You don’t have to be a genius to guess the price point of this one, and we have to say hats off to one of our favourite named products ever.

“Are these going to change the world? Probably not, but they’ll at least help you on your way to not filing bankruptcy before the end of winter”

Transform was set up in 2008 by longtime seasonaire Tom Kingsnorth. Originally a passion project, the demand for Transform grew tenfold each season, and suddenly he found himself selling to shops around the world, and cultivating a crack team of pro riders including Olympic medallists and household names.

Fast forward 15 years and Transform have come out with what they call their best collection to date, and we’re on board with that statement. A lot of their products are rad, but to us, the Budget Smugglers stood out as a genuinely good product that clock in with a more than reasonable price tag.

Who Are The Transform Gloves Budget Smuggler Mitts For?

With their unisex sizing and array of colourways there’s a lot to get on with here. The price tag might push them more towards seasonaires living in a van and washing dishes of an evening, but even for more affluent holiday makers they’re not to be sniffed at!

Materials, Construction and Features

After living and shredding in the mountains for so long, Tom knows exactly what a snowboarder wants, and doesn’t want, in a mitten. The Budget Smuggler isn’t full of fancy add ons and high tech components that drive the price up, instead he’s kept it simple in the best way possible.

Transform rate them a ‘5’ on the heat scale, which in their book is good for every day of the season. Maybe a little warm for slushy spring laps, but who the hell is wearing mitts then anyway? They are compatible with inner gloves underneath, and have a glove clip to keep them in place in case you want to wear a thin layer underneath, but that’s personal preference.

Featuring a four-way stretch softshell outer and a HyperGrip rubber palm, the Budget Smugglers are both durable and comfortable. Now worse than slicing your mitt on the first day of the season as you attempt, and miss, a method after being sedentary all summer.

They’re also touchscreen compatible so you can still swipe Tinder while you’re on the chairlift on a cold day, or conversely, if it’s a warm day and you want to roll and smoke some disco cabbage with your friends, there’s a wrist leash so you won’t drop them off the side never to be seen again.
