Once you can push the thoughts of mobs of Kangaroos grazing fields and wombats being passively cumbersome on the sides of the roads out of your mind, when you think of snowboarding in Australia it’s usually Perisher resort that you picture. It’s Australia’s biggest in terms of rideable terrain, has Australia’s only halfpipe and is home to some reasonably high profile events.
However, Thredbo, also in the Snowy Mountains and accessible from nearby Jindabyne should by no means be overlooked. While it may have fewer lifts, it actually has more vertical and Australia’s highest lifted point which generally translates to longer runs. The park crew are pretty clued on as well, pulling together some decent, well maintained features.
This new web series focuses on the goings on at Thredders and episode one takes a look at the recent Sydney Rail Jam and first proper freestyle event of the season.
We were pleasantly surprised to spot one Orla Doolin shredding (at 00:57, 1:10 and 3:04) and surprise, surprise making it on the podium! Nice one Orla!
