Why we chose the Switchback Eiki Snowboard Bindings: They’re a jibbers dream.

Eiki ‘Effin Helgason. If he’s not a big enough reason for you to want to try these bindings, then nothing is. A guy like Eiki needs a binder that’s able to keep up with him, one that’s built to withstand big knocks and that can boost off anything.

The highbacks use a flat back so you’ll get tons of lateral motion for poking and tweaking. The AERON base meanwhile helps with a quick and efficient power transfer (it has power rods to redirect energy where you want it to go with no faff and fuss).

“The highbacks use a flat back so you’ll get tons of lateral motion for poking and tweaking”

The base is designed for ultimate adjustability, whether it’s getting bigger with your boots as you’re growing or it’s getting passed down to little brother once you’re done.

Like all Switchback offerings there’s no need for tools when you’re wanting to chop and change things up. They’re designed to be customised and changing straps and high backs couldn’t be easier when you’re wanting some extra support or some extra flow.

“Ideal for freestyle the Eiki’s are flexible and flowy when you’re wanting some manoeuvrability”

Durable EVA foam runs underfoot to help suck up any excess vibration as you’re riding and offers a bit of extra cushioning as you’re stomping those big landings.

Miller straps are minimalist in design and allow you to get a snug fit without having to crank down on the straps. Whilst saving precious weight, you’ll also get some added security with the cut out toe straps ergonomically designed to wrap around the front of your boot.

Ideal for freestyle the Eiki’s are flexible and flowy when you’re wanting some manoeuvrability, but still rigid enough to keep you solid as you’re picking up speed on the in-run. They match up perfectly with the Lobster Eiki snowboard, the flex patterns work together like a dream.

Tester’s Verdict

Mike BrindleyWhitelines

“Of all the bindings in all the board tests this year, these have got to have been the most eye catching. Lined up with Eiki’s signature Lobster deck they make a big old visual statement, but regardless of which board you’re using, it’s clear that they’ve got the goods to back up the look.

“Bombproof, lightweight and perfectly flexing in equal measure”

The Switchback chassis is now ridiculously customisable on the go, making these ideal if you’re swapping setups around regularly – and the visual clues are backed up by an excellent freestyle feel once you’ve customised them up to the hilt. Bombproof, lightweight and perfectly flexing in equal measure.”

Tester’s Verdict 2018/19

“Switchback is back with another version of the Eiki Pro’s. Matching up perfectly with the board of the same name, these bindings are developed for those riders who are wanting to achieve the same style as the legend himself.

“Maximum fun with minimal effort”

Using flat highbacks and the lightweight AERON base, this year’s Eiki Pros are not a binding to go unnoticed. They offered a loose, free-flowing ride, but never once did I feel unstable.

They were super comfortable and responsive, smooth from heel to toe and soft enough to be really playful. Overall these were a great binding that match up to what the Switchback and Lobster crews are trying to achieve, and that’s maximum fun with minimal effort.

If you want to smash out every trick in the Braindomness playbook, get yourself strapped in to a set of these bad boys and enjoy.”
