Slow Down | Lukas Ellensohn drops his latest edit

Three years in the making, Lukas Ellensohn drops his latest video part, 'Slow Down'

Due to the recent events in the world, we’ve all had to slow down and learn to appreciate the small things in life. Looking at the bright side of things, the majority of us have also managed to reduce our carbon footprint – including Lukas Ellensohn. We caught up with the guy himself to check in what he had to say about his latest edit, ‘Slow Down’.

“This part is not about me slowing down my snowboarding, but I’d like for it to add a little message about the importance of deceleration of the world in general”

“The last three years I’ve been snowboarding a lot but instead of stressing to find the best conditions I stayed calm and took what nature delivered in my near surrounding. That allowed me to further my studies and reduce my personal footprint compared to the years before.

‘Slow Down’ is not about me slowing down my snowboarding, but I’d like for it to add a little message about the importance of deceleration of the world in general.

In 2019 we used up nature’s resources by the 29th of July which meant from that date on, we lived on future resources. That’s been the earliest Earth Overshoot Day in History! In 2020 the date was pushed back to August 22, which is where it stood around 15 years ago.

I don’t think we need a pandemic to force us to slow down but rather to create greater awareness about our activities on the planet.

When Watt invented the first well-functioning steam engine, the Industrial Revolution started in full swing and business started to rise. In 2012, more than 90 million barrels of oil were consumed worldwide every day. Twice as much as in the 1970s.
