Who Is The Slash Happy Place For?

Almost everyone out there. Men, women and kids who are starting to outgrow their youth snowboard. Park riders, piste jibbers and all-mountain cruisers looking for a mellow flexing all-mountain twin. Beginners, intermediates and even some advanced riders who want an easy-going board to get creative on. There’s a good reason why the Slash Happy Place has been a Whitelines 100 winner in previous years — everyone on our test team who has taken it out for a spin absolutely loves it.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

The Happy Place has a true twin shape, flex and outline. No surprises there really, it’s definitely a snowboard designed for riders looking to bring elements of freestyle to the whole mountain. That’s combined with a camrock profile, featuring a mellow positive camber between your feet — that’s where you’ll find the pop, grip and stability in the board — coupled with more forgiving and playful rocker sections are either end.

Whether you’re a pretty dedicated park rider looking for a board to send you off the jump line and lock into presses, or someone who’s looking to purchase their first setup and get ripping across the whole mountain, there are few boards that have such widespread appeal at a frankly illogically low price point. More on that in the next section…

Construction and Materials

How many boards under the 400 quid mark can you name that feature with a sintered base, full wood core, triax and biax fibreglass layers and carbon additives? We doubt we could even complete the board on Family Fortunes, but there’s a good chance the survey would say the Happy Place was the top answer.

It’s a rare example of how a softer flexing snowboard can still be packed with performance and quality materials. Carbon stringers placed underfoot will give you an extra dose of pop, while the varied combination of fiberglass layers strike that perfect balance between torsional response and and jibability.

Roundup

It might fall short for riders who want a little more drive and power in their snowboard (in which case, the ATV may be more your calling), and it won’t exactly be your best friend on a powder day (again, Slash have you got you covered with the Vertical and Brainstorm). But the Happy Place isn’t chasing these kinds of thrills. This one’s all about those bluebird park days, slushy spring park laps, having a game of S.K.A.T.E on the home run with your homies and unlocking your freestyle over the whole mountain. And, let’s be honest, aren’t those the best days anyway? It sure sounds like our kinda happy place…
