Tom Sims’ influence in snowboarding is still keenly felt, and nowhere more so than in the revamped SIMS brand of snowboards. Made in the USA and sporting the colours of the Stars & Stripes, the SIMS Tom Sims Pro snowboard pays tribute to an American icon.
“X-shaped carbon additives sit underneath each binding, giving you a bit more response when changing from edge to edge…”
The SIMS Tom Sims Pro features a low camber profile, with mellowed-out transitions to the upturns at the nose and tail. This makes turn initiation a lot smoother, and also reduces the chance of an edge catch. It’s a good fit for the slightly directional shape, too, and still gives you pop when you want it.
X-shaped carbon additives sit underneath each binding, giving you a bit more response when changing from edge to edge. If you’re wanting to carve up the groomers (and on this thing, you definitely should), that’ll come in handy.
Also helpful is the sidecut, which uses multiple radii to enhance the grip. When you’re really melting along on the sintered base, unpleasant vibrations are taken care of by shock-absorbing materials. As a result, this hasn’t been made so stiff that you can’t have a bit of fun on it too.
It’s all backed up with a three-year warranty, making the SIMS Tom Sims Pro a safe bet for anyone who loves getting low in the carves and blasting through pow.
