You can love him or hate him, but there’s no denying that Shaun White is a fierce competitor and one of the most successful athletes to ever strap into a snowboard. In a recent TV interview with TODAY, Shaun announced that the upcoming Olympics in Beijing will be his last.
At this point, Shaun has won pretty much everything there is to win, including 3 Olympic Gold Medals, he’s topped countless X Games podiums and received various industry awards, but as he creeps towards his fifth Olympic Games, he goes in almost twice the age of some of his closest competitors.

Shaun’s Olympic halfpipe dominance was upset in 2014 when he failed to medal, but otherwise he’s running with a clean sheet. His competitive performance recently hasn’t been what he’s expected, but Shaun’s been known to pull it out of the bag when he needs to. If he makes it to Beijing can we expect to see him thrive under pressure once again, or will he fall to the power of the young guns? Either way, it’s a battle we’ll be glued to our screens watching.
