Seppe Smits and Sebbe de Buck Join the World’s Best Freeskiers and get RAD!

NINE KNIGHTS ATTACK A SNOW CASTLE

What happens when you build a castle out of snow with about a million transfer options, invite the world’s best freeskiers plus Belgian snowboard giants Seppe Smits and Sebbe de Buck and let them loose for a whole week. This.

Yeah yeah, we know this edit is mainly skiing, but we thought you’d appreciate seeing what can be achieved with a simple (ahem) bit of snow pushing; they built an entire castle!

The Suzuki Nine Knights format has been going for a few years now, but this spring is the first time snowboarders have been invited too. In the women’s version, Nine Queens, Jenny Jones grabbed another bronze for the season on a huge course, but last week the Livigno park team stepped it up again and created this monstrosity.

After the inspired (but slightly phallic) B&E Invitational pipe from a couple of weeks ago, freeskiing really looks to be pushing the boundaries of competitive course design.

After all the whinging that snowboarders do about the lack of creative contests, you’ve just seen that it’s more than possible to create something amazing and get the riders taking part to really push the boundaries. Admittedly we don’t know much about skiing tricks but a triple cork 1080? That truly is style meeting progression.

Seppe Smits does get the ender in this edit though with a beaut of a backside triple 1440, nailed over one of the biggest and most perfectly shaped kickers we’ve seen this winter. Dear Nine Knights, can we have somre more snowboarder spots for next year please? Pretty please?
