The setback camber profile is a great way to help with turn initiation on piste but can make getting good pop out of the board a little harder as the camber is that much harder to reach and engage. Thankfully Salomon have deployed their Popster core which utilises the natural snap of wood profiling to counter this.

That being said, this is still definitely more of a boost-off-a-wind lip kind of board than a full camber, park orientated deck so don’t expect to be sent to the moon when you ollie.

On the flip side though, the back seat camber and flat section in the nose will make landing jumps off piste feel a lot more comfortable as there is some absorption under your back foot while the nose stays up to prevent a yard sale.

Under the hood is a premium, stone finished, sintered base that’s built for speed. You’ll also find Salomons cork damplifier tech in the nose and tail which dampens the board way down for less chatter, smoother landings and a better float. Gunslinger Sidewalls help to make the damp, damper for a truly smooth ride, free from any scary bumps in the night.

What’s cool about the Salomon Super 8 is the focus that’s been put into make it ride exactly how they wanted it to ride, in exactly the style they want you to ride it.
It’s not going to pretend to be a park board or claim super-all-mountain ability. But what it will do is offer a natural surfy feel to your turns, amazing float in powder and make carving feel reeaalllyyy good again.

Sure, landing switch might be a bit of a challenge in the powder but hey, now’s the time to either perfect your full rotations or just commit to a monster straight air and get a nice tweaked grab in there, rest assured the landing will feel bang on thanks to that backseat camber profile.

I’d argue that for the way that your regular, intermediate+ rider enjoys snowboarding these days this is a great option for a fun trip.
