If you were the one taking the kind of stomach-churning, mind-boggling, knee-jeopordising risks on which Bode Merrill made his name, you’d want a precision-engineered boot too. Working closely with Bode, Salomon introduced the Salomon Hi-Fi snowboard boot last winter, and we’re pleased (but not at all surprised) to see it return for another winter.
The one-foot wünderkind favours an average-flexing boot, one that can handle the bigger gaps without taking mini-shreds off the table. The speed-lace system controls the upper and lower areas of the boot separately, allowing you to achieve the perfect fit with minimal fuss. The Salomon Hi-Fi also has a neoprene layer under the lower section which spreads the pressure evenly, improving comfort.

The need to absorb impacts is well met by the ‘HiFive EC+’ outsole, which you won’t find anywhere but on the Salomon Hi-Fi. A unique version of EVA foam has been applied to the areas where it’s most needed, protecting your foot from coming a cropper when you clip a knuckle. It also does a fine job at mellowing out the usual shred-related vibrations that can, over time, put your feet through the wringer.
