Who Is The Salomon Dancehaul For?

Available in a variety of sizes the Dancehaul is a unisex board that’s ideal for pretty much anyone looking to have as much fun as possible while still keeping your clothes on.

The tagline from Salomon is to remember that freestyle can happen anywhere and despite sounding a bit like a Bomfunk MC B-side we think that sums it up pretty perfectly. The Dancehaul encourages creativity no matter where you find yourself & will help to progress your riding across the board.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

The Dancehaul is a volume shifted, directional board with a slight taper in the back. What does this all mean?

Well, it means you’ve got a run & gun pocket rocket in your hands, the shorter and fatter shape lets you size down for something a little more nimble (also a relief for any big footed people like myself that normally get stuck with just 2 different lengths to choose from when buying a new board).

Just don’t forget that you still haven’t lost any snowboard by sizing down, it’s all just been squashed out to the sides so you’ll still have plenty of float in the soft stuff, which coincidently is where that tapered tail and larger nose come into play. This will help your back foot dip down and the nose rise up for easier powder turns and a few less tomahawks.

The Rock Out Camber profile opens this board up to the whole resort. A flat section between your bindings provides constant stability, camber under your feet lets you push back into your carves and loads up for ollies while the rocker in the nose and tail keeps it fun and floaty.

Keeping it classic a tight, radial sidecut provides a simple and reliable response that’s built for cranking carves to the absolute maximum. Couple this with the fact that it’s near impossible to drag your toe or heel on the volume shifted shape and you’ve no longer got an excuse not to lay out those carves.

Construction and Materials

DAMNNN Salomon, back at it again with the Popster core. Designed to recreate that skateboard feel when popping through your tail the Popster core plays with the thickness of the wood throughout boards internal workings.

You’ve got a thin, snappy section between your bindings and tapering out to the nose and tail. While a thicker area on the outside of your feet provides the strength and control you need.

The specially selected aspen wood is hand chosen for maximum quality to ensure a lightweight and reliable core. Ghost Basalt Stringers help to keep a consistent pop and smooth out the chatter for a ride that’s made even damper by the ABS Sidewalls. These super tough sidewalls help to distribute energy down the length of the board for great response and edge control that also helps to take a little sting out of heavy impacts.

To finish things off Salomon want to ensure that the Dancehall is ridden to its full speed potential and have opted for a nippy little sintered base.

Roundup

“All mountain” is a term that gets slapped onto a hell of a lot of snowboards these days, but the Salomon Dancehaul is up there as a firm contender for a truly all mountain destroyer.

Carves, steep & deep powder, tree lines and even freestyle are not only possible, but downright fun. The only Achilles heel is that landing switch isn’t quite as easy as it would be on a true twin board… but that’s hardly surprising given the directional shape. And saying that it’s still not impossible, despite having a directional shape the binding inserts aren’t set back so you can still keep your weight central and get your rotation on.

The Dancehaul was our Whitelines Choice Award winner for best All-Mountain snowboard in 2020/2021 so it’s a safe bet that this years is a belter too.
