BUY FROM

I imagine when hiring a real assassin you probably pony up for the most expensive option… but at a more affordable price point than the Assassin Pro and with a little softer and more playful flex this is one time that you can safely drop down in specs and still guarantee a great result.

The Salomon Assassin has been a fan, industry and pro favourite for a few years now and rather than risk it with a complete overhaul every season Salomon simply tinker and perfect the board each year to give you a better ride.

“The Assassin is perfect for anyone who likes to split their time equally between the park and the rest of the resort”

Who Is The Salomon Assassin For?

The Assassin is perfect for anyone who likes to split their time equally between the park and the rest of the resort. It’s a freestyle forward, all-mountain deck with a quick, sintered base that’s going to have you comfortably gunning it through the jump line and keeping up with your pals on the way to Apres.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

The Salomon’s directional twin shape allows this freestyle focused board a little more versatility than a purer true-twin freestyle deck so that if you fancy a break from lapping the park you’ll still be comfortable gunning down the piste or slashing some powder.

Salomon’s rock out camber is well shaped to help you out when you need it the most. Featuring a nice flat base for stability between your feet that locks you into boardslides, a touch of camber before the contact points so that you can still charge up some pop for the booters and then rocker from the contacts out to provide a little bit of forgiveness and lift should you find yourself in the pow.

The flex pattern toes the line nicely between being responsive when you need it, but still having enough play in there to crank your presses.

The tech-heavy quardaliser sidecut opens up the board to any piste artists out there looking to draw some pencil lines through the snow. Using a short, flat sidecut between the feet that blends into a mix of different radius along the rest of the edge to maximise grip.

Construction and Materials

Although you’ve got a little bit of camber in this board, the combo profile means it wouldn’t naturally have as much pop as a full camber board. But Salomon have this covered by adding in a Popster Eco Booster made up of a shaped, wood core profile and bamboo rods that help to add a lot more snap when you’re looking to boost yourself clear of the floor. It’s also their most eco-friendly set up for boosting your pop.

Who’d have thought an Assassin would save the world? But Salomon’s ABC Wrapper uses structural bamboo instead of fibreglass and resin in the boards laminates. Alright, it won’t save the world but 40% less nasty glass & resin = 40% better vibes.

Just like last year the traditional rubber sidewalls have been updated to Salomon’s Royal Cork Rails which help to dampen the board down a little to reduce chatter at high speeds and protect your edges should you start clattering them into the side of rails.

Roundup

For us mere mortals the assassin is the ideal candidate for a daily driver to explore and rip around the whole resort. But as much as it is an all-mountain board, that subtle, clever freestyle tech designed to give you stability underfoot and extra pop means that if you want to channel your inner Victor Daviet you can throw down some absolute monsters on this silent, quiver killer.

In short, it’s pure-unadulterated fun wherever you take it. What more can you really ask for?
