Pro-line warm up laps and powder from last month's Burton US Open
Roope Tonteri honed his freestyle skills riding the bulletproof parks of Finland. From humble beginnings in his local village of Kouvola, Roope is now at home on the international snowboard circuit where he is among the big hitters in both slopestyle and big air.
To date, his biggest successes have come on the FIS tour. At the FIS World Championships in 2013, he took the top spot in both of his preferred disciplines. At the next go-round in 2015 he retained the big air title, and managed 2nd in slopestyle behind Ryan Stassel.
He’s also picked up some impressive results in other events, recently taking 3rd place at the inaugural Ale Invite. In the past he’s topped the podium at the Burton European Open, and the Burn River Jump. While he made the final of Sochi 2014, he failed to put down either of his runs and finished in 11th overall.
As a prolific member of the Burton Team he’s appeared in their full-lengther 13, as well as the acclaimed Burton Presents web series.
