The Heist from Rome is a proper exciting little go-anywhere-hit-anything, freestyle forward board that can still hold its own outside of the park. You’ll find a cool blend of tech in this one that ensures it has something to offer wherever you find yourself on the hill.

Who Is The Rome Heist For?

Anyone whose mastered the basics of snowboarding would enjoy the Heist, particularly if they’re interested in exploring the world of freestyle and switch riding. Reactive, butter-friendly and with plenty of pop and edge grip the Heist is a great board to progress your riding across the resort.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

As we said, this is definitely a freestyle board first and foremost and that’s clear from first glance. The true twin shape will ride the same in switch or regular, ideal for adding some rotations to your bag of tricks.

You’ll also find a Fusion Camber profile that has traditional camber in the centre that blends into some rocker in the nose and tail. When freestyling the rocker adds a nice touch of forgiveness if you land a little janky while learning a new trick (or just because that’s the way it goes sometimes…) but it also means the board has a little more float should some fresh powder fall. But that traditional camber in the middle means that you can load up some pop in this for a bigger park game and locked in carves.

Construction and Materials

The 100% Polar StompCore is designed with landing tricks in mind and is touted as the most “stable and predictable” core in Rome’s lineup. In world where progression is everything, a reliable landing point is really encouraging when you want to try a new trick.

Milled into the centre of the StompCore are two Bamboo Omega Hotrods that essentially utilise thin bamboo rods in carbon to add both response and a reactive flex beneath the binding inserts that feels amazing to crank a big old press on.

Continuing along the lines of being an absolute jib fiend, the 2 layers of Biax fibreglass also add some torsional play to the Heist for a really playful and pressable feel underfoot.

Roundup

The best thing about this board is the care that’s been taken in the construction to make it a great board for the progressing snowboarder without losing any of the fun that a more advanced rider would enjoy.

The Fusion Camber profile introduces the joy of proper camber underfoot and its benefits in freestyle, while the touch of rocker is forgiving and floaty in powder. But it’s the medium/soft flex and Bamboo Omega Hotrods where the magic really happens, despite being extremely pressable the board still retains some snap and reactiveness when you need it.
