Rome Bronson 2017-2018 Snowboard Mitts Review

This electric-purple creation is the signature design of the RK1 crew’s Len Jorgensen, and it’s perhaps only the braver souls who will opt for his particular colourway of the Rome Bronson snowboard mitts. The variants are a lot less out-there though, including one that’s all black, so riders of all styles will be able to get on with this premium mitt.

“Thanks to a 3D shape that curves away at the fingertips, the Rome Bronson has an anonymous feel that can’t be beaten for comfort”

The Rome Bronson is one for the colder days, with the highest level of insulation going. Two leading materials, Primaloft and Thinsulate, are used in tandem to give your fingers the best possible chance against the elements. It’s also got an oversized cuff which you can choose to wear over your jacket sleeve to form an impenetrable seal, or if you prefer you can tighten the toggle and slip it underneath as normal.

As soon as you put it on, you’ll notice that this mitt has been built with your hand’s natural contours in mind. Thanks to a 3D shape that curves away at the fingertips (much like your actual fingers do), the Rome Bronson mitt has an anonymous feel that can’t be beaten for comfort. Plus it’ll keep that shape from your first riding day to your hundredth.

A dry hand is a happy hand, and moisture is kept at bay by the ‘Hipora 5000’ waterproof inserts. This three-layer membrane not only protects you from snow and rain, it also allows your sweat to escape efficiently. A super-warm glove is only as good as its breathability, otherwise clamminess can be a real problem, but that’s no problem in the Rome Bronson.

The palm is 100% premium leather, so there’s no excuse for not holding your grab. It’s very durable too, so before you let the price tag scare you off, it’s important to think about how long you’ll get out of a pair of these (hint: it’s a lot).

It’s also available both as a ‘trigger’ style with one free finger, and as a regular glove. All have their advantages, but if warmth is your priority then the Rome Bronson mitt is the one to go for.

Trade Secrets

Len Jorgensen – Team Rider, Rome

The Lenny Bronson mitt – do your favourite grab, or an occasional dab…

With the little index finger pocket you can get a grip of your board and tweak it to a whole new level. (be careful out there, knees).

The best thing is the poppy colour, so everyone can see your new grab.
