Rome Bodega 2020-2021 Snowboard Boots Review

Why we chose the Rome Bodega Snowboard Boots: It comes storming out the gate filling a key gap in the market.

Small bodega’s are a staple of life in New York City, they’re the go-to favourite of many locals, and the key to their success lies with their versatility and adaptability. The Rome Bodega boot collection is much the same, it’s been going strong for years and has garnered a solid reputation among playful riders looking for one boot to do it all. New for this season, the women’s specific model (the one seen in the images) is all set to kick ass and take names as a softer flexing, all-terrain destroyer. The Bodega collection features four boots with a lace option, hybrid boa, dual boa and the women’s boot featured.

Everyone’s feet are different, and as such there’s no such thing as ‘the best snowboard boot’. And although you might not know the right boot for you until you try it on, a good place to start your research is with a company like Rome. Rome Snowboard Design Syndicate has worked steadfastly since 2001 to push innovation in the industry. A rider owned and operated company, Rome SDS produces high quality gear, by snowboarders for snowboarders.

“If you don’t want to pigeon-hole yourself into a certain type of riding, the Bodega is a tasty option for your daily drive”

The Bodega sits in their boot line as a lively and versatile option, it’s the middle of the road for both flex and price. If you don’t want to pigeon-hole yourself into a certain type of riding, the Bodega is a tasty option for your daily driver.

With the list of features and ingredients in some snowboard boots reading like something out of Star Trek, it’s refreshing to have the Bodega as a no fuss, no frills, no nonsense alternative. It does what a snowboard boot is meant to do, sit comfortably on your foot and transfer your input down the bindings, simple.

Heel lift is the bane of many a snowboarder’s life, working twice as hard to get mediocre results isn’t anyone’s idea of a good time. Rome focus locking in this crucial area with their Skate Cuff 3D support system, so you can spend more time shredding and less time slopping around.

A dual boa is responsible for getting the Bodega nice and tight externally, a universally recognised system, BOA is one of the most secure ways to fasten your boots. Once tight, they stay tight all day, no more stopping at the top of each run to desperately yank your laces for a bit more support while your mates ride off into the distance.

“A simple thing done well is hard to beat, and Rome have hit it out of the park with the Bodega”

The two BOA’s tighten independently to give you more opportunity to fine tune the fit. A single boa is handy, but often leaves you a bit short-changed with one half of the boot getting loose after a few runs. BOA are so confident in their tech that they come with a lifetime warranty, so feel free to go full ham on when you’re cranking them in.

The Bodega’s carry themselves with a rugged durability, the Gripflex Outsole marrying a robust tread with grippy rubber for longlasting traction. They also use specific hinge points in the outer boot, so when you’re flexing forward the material doesn’t buckle and break down.

This is classic Rome- high performance without an eye watering price tag. A simple thing done well is hard to beat, and Rome have hit it out of the park with the Bodega.
