Why we chose the Ride C10 Snowboard Bindings: Brand new and better than ever, you’re in for the ride of your life

After a complete overhaul of their bindings for 2020/21, the Ride catalogue now reads like a weird game of battleships; C6, A4, BOOM! All jokes aside, it’s actually a much more streamlined system. You choose which chassis you want, C-Series or A-Series, and then pick how stiff you want them to be. Nice and easy. The Ride C10 is the mac daddy of the bunch, the stiffest and most performance oriented of its C-Series brethren, and it’s one of our favourite new additions to the market this season.

The A-Series has an aluminium baseplate for maximum precision and power, while the C-Series uses polycarbonate for a little bit of extra dampening and flex. The C10 uses the same forged aluminium heelcup as the more expensive A-Series, but with the composite tray underfoot.

If you want a super responsive binding but prefer a little bit more flexibility and board feel, then the C10 is the way to go. To mark it out as the big dog, Ride beef it up by injecting 20% short-glass into the nylon composite baseplate. It’s still smoother than the A-Series, but it’s more responsive that its C-Series counterparts.

Ride are big fans of urethane, it features in a huge range of their products because of its high tensile strength and elastic properties. The C10 highback uses both laminated carbon and urethane to ensure you’re getting dynamic power and spring back, coupled with rugged durability.

The C10 comes with two different mounting discs to swap out depending on your riding style. If you’re feeling like a high-octane balls to the wall charging kinda day, then use the Aluminium disc for precision and performance. For chill days hotlapping with the homies then the plastic disc prioritises playful flex and comfort.

“It’s not for the faint hearted, when you push it, rest assured it’s gonna push back. Hard.”

The footbed is a feat of engineering unto itself, it’s packed with more tech than most other bindings have in total. The EVA foam pad is canted to allow for a more natural stance, bringing your knees slightly closer together for increased comfort and leverage over the tip and tail of your board. Urethane pods sit under the heel and the ball of your foot to soak up vibrations and take some of the slap out of heavy landings. The comfort and performance on offer is second to none, and goes to show that starting from the ground up is never a bad shout.

Ride use a three-piece ankle strap combining foam with different density plastic for a reactive and supportive feel. It’s form fitting to alleviate pressure points, so you can ride longer and harder without hotspots of discomfort. The toe straps mould round the front of your boot to lock it in and secure a snug fit all day long.

The C10 is a versatile binding for riders who want high quality engineering and high performance all in the same package. It’s not for the faint hearted, when you push it, rest assured it’s gonna push back. Hard.
