Sad news today as we discovered that APO have parted ways with Regis Rolland, founder of the original brand Apocalypse in 1986 after the success of a trilogy of awesome skiing vs. snowboarding vs snow kayaking vs base jumping videos. In 1992 it became A Snowboards, before finally morphing into APO Snow in 2002.

According to French snowboard website Fluo Fun, Regis was actually fired by APO after a disaster with the manufacturers of their dual-entry binding: they have had to stop production and the loss in revenue has led them to let four members of staff go, including Mr Rolland.

This is after a summer where a significant portion of the European team has apparently been ‘trimmed’ – you can see from their website that the likes of Tyler Chorton and Gerome Mathieu no longer feature.

Fortunately though, Regis himself seems to still have more to give, as he’s quoted on Fluo Fun (rough translation) “Retirement at 53 seems a little early.” Here’s us at WL hq hoping that we’ll see something more like the glory days of the Apocalypse movies coming back out of the French Alps: alpanism at its most awesome.
