Let the hype begin! From the star of The Art of Flight and other million dollar snowboard movies, here comes Travis Rice’s latest attempt to put Red Bull’s cash to good use. You may remember the Quiksilver Natural Selection event Lord Travis pioneered back in 2008, well that was just a warm-up. This latest concept, dubbed Supernatural, promises to herald nothing less than ‘the future of snowboarding competitions’, and has seen him join a crew of ‘experts’ (a.k.a. lumberjacks with big ass chainsaws) in the mountains of British Columbia. Working in the summer, they’ve created some crazy-looking features in the zone belonging to the Baldface catboarding operation, which having been covered in a blanket of snow are now – presumably – ready to shred. 18 of the world’s best riders have been invited to compete between 3rd and 8th February, in a format that’s set to test both their aeriel and jibbing prowess, not to mention their all round pow slaying. As Travis Rice put it himself in our interview with him recently, “The best snowboarder will win.” Bring it on!
