Our pick of this season's best Quiksilver snowboard outerwear

Quiksilver is one of the world’s most famous surf brands and a solid snowboard outerwear brand in its own right. Formed in 1969 on the beaches of Australia, Quiksilver have a history of action sports firsts and over the last 50 years or so the Australian-founded, American-based, brand has done more than most to amalgamate the surfing and snowboarding worlds; bridging the gap between the two sister sports.

They were the first company to make technical board shorts, the first company to make snowboard-specific outerwear influenced by the beach lifestyle, and the first company to have a dedicated action sports brand just for women (Roxy). And that’s just a few of their impressive firsts.

After 50 years in the game, they continue to be the industry leader in action sports apparel. Their iconic mountain and wave logo, inspired by The Great Wave off Kanawaga, remains completely unchanged since it was introduced in 1969. How’s that for longevity?!

In 1983, Mel Gibson wore Quiksilver in Lethal Weapon. Nowadays though, their garments are worn by some impressive team riders rather than mediocre actors. Ever heard of someone called Travis Rice? Thought so. Rice has been fitted out in Quiksilver for quite a few years now, and the same goes for Bryan Fox.

Other riders such as Austen Sweetin and Miles Fallon represent the playfulness of the Quiksilver line by rocking the bold colours, retro prints and boxy oversized fits that characterise the ‘High Altitude’ collection. Underlining the quality on offer, all Quiksilver gear has to meet the standards of the pro team.

Quiksilver Steeze Outerwear 2022-2023

Price: £210 / €240

Austen Sweetin and Miles Fallon’s signature line is all about the youthfulness and fun of snowboarding, hence why the High Altitude stuff is all about the baggy fits and playful prints; rocking designs inspired by the early 90s combined with a modern twist.

Now, back for a third year, Quiksilver’s High Altitude line has been a success amongst both the team riders and the everyday consumers. So successful in fact that for 22/23 some of the products have been designed in a unisex fit, including the Steeze Jacket and Snow Down Pants.

Who Is The Quiksilver Steeze Jacket For?

The Quiksilver Steeze Jacket and Snow Down Pants are all about bold colours, comfort, and steeze (and are all offered at a reasonable price). If you’re looking for an eye-catching shell to lap the park in, or to cruise through the resort in, then this is for you. And, for this year, Quiksilver is inviting the female riders to join the fun by introducing a unisex fit; making the jacket and pants a great choice for all genders.

Quiksilver Highline Pro Jacket 2022-2023

Price: £530

Looking for a seriously high-quality shell for backcountry missions? Whether you’re skinning uphill or charging down steep couloirs, this jacket has got your back. Made from Gore-Tex Pro, the seriously waterproof and breathable fabric used here makes it the top high-performance jacket in the Quiksilver range right now. We’re a big fan of the cleverly-implemented pockets, that won’t get in the way of your backpack straps, and we’re loving the baggy-yet-fitted cut that leaves plenty of room for movement. It’s easy to see why Travis Rice has added the Highline to his signature collection this season. Pair with the matching bib pants for max coverage.

Quiksilver T Rice Gore Infinium Jacket 2022-2023

Price: £330

For a first-rate insulated jacket that’s suitable for use in both the park and the backcountry, check out the Gore Infinium. As Travis Rice’s signature number this season, you can expect a top waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex outer layer; primed for stormy days and sending it off big booters. However, unlike your usual high-tech shell, this jacket is lined with toasty Primaloft Active fabric to keep the chill out on those icy mornings. Despite this though, it’s a product that still retains a lightweight feel. The wide pit vents are also designed for quickly dumping heat when needed. A great all-rounder that will likely be your most worn outer layer this season.

Quiksilver Mission GT Jacket and Altostratus GT Stretch Bib 2022-2023

Price: Jacket: £290 / Pants: €320

Power, fluidity and style: Bryan Fox embodies all three when he’s charging steep lines in Alaska or ploughing through powder fields in Japan. While us mere mortals might fail to imitate his riding style, we can match his look with the help of his Quiksilver signature line. The Mission Jacket means business with its durable Gore-Tex outer layer, plus Quiksilver have nailed the long length design without making things overly baggy. Likewise, the equally waterproof Altostratus bib pants look steezy enough for the park, but will keep your butt dry on a powder day. Ideal for the rider who wants a snowboarding shell, but doesn’t want to look like they’re going climbing.
