Created on the back of a desire to inspire an eco-friendly lifestyle, Picture Organic Clothing is on a mission to develop products that will help to fight climate change. By introducing the Picture Organic 2L Signa Jacket with a bio-sourced hard shell, a dryplay recyclable membrane and DuPont Sorona Insulation, we’d say they’re doing a pretty damn good job at that.
All of Picture’s products are made using bio-sourced materials. On a quest to wipe out fossil fuels, their bio-sourced and recyclable polyester fabric is made out of sugarcane by-products that are deemed unsuitable for human consumption. In the making of the Signa Jacket, Picture has used 62% of their bio-sourced polyester.
“For added warmth Picture has chosen to use synthetic insulation in the form of a polyester microfibre made of a 37% plant-based component, corn-glucose to be more exact”
Launched in 2019, Picture introduced their first bio-based membrane to the market: the DryPlay Recyclable membrane that consists of 30% castor oil and 70% recycled PET. This membrane gives the Signa Jacket a waterproof rating of 20K and breathability of 15K, meaning you’ll be just fine taking this jacket out for a little off-piste mission outside the limits of the resort.
For added warmth Picture has chosen to use synthetic insulation in the form of a polyester microfibre made of a 37% plant-based component, corn-glucose to be more exact. The DuPont Sorona insulation feels soft next to skin. It’s also quick-drying and moisture-wicking; making it a warm, durable, and responsible alternative.
In case things get a bit too toasty, you can go right ahead and unzip the underarm vents to let in some fresh air. As for other features, the adjustable ergonomic hood here will fit nicely around your head whether you’re wearing helmet or not.
To prevent snow from getting in, or heat from getting out, Picture’s also added a jacket-to-pant interface, which come in handy when hiking through deep snow. The stretch snow skirt will do a good job at keeping the snow out.
It may be a more pricy option but, in the long run, it’ll be well worth investing in a sustainable product like the Picture Organic Signa Jacket.
The model in the photo is 5’4” (165cm) tall and wearing size S.
