Together with the Demain Jacket, the Picture Organic Clothing Demain Pant offers a sustainable option if you’re looking to keep dry on the mountains.
The Demain snowboard pants are made using Picture’s Xpore Membrane, which is probably the most sustainable membrane currently available on the snowboard market.
“Xpore is a mebrane with nanopores that are 20K times smaller than a water droplet but 200 times larger than a water vapour molecule”
Xpore is a membrane with nanopores that are 20K times smaller than a water droplet but 200 times larger than a water vapour molecule. In other words, this allows water vapour created from your body to get through and evaporate into the outside environment whilst also making sure no water can make its way inside the jacket from outside.
By using eco-friendly and non-toxic materials, Picture has created an ultra-lightweight membrane with superior breathability and waterproofness. By serving up a waterproof level of 25K, the Demain pants are a very solid choice if you’re going to be venturing off the beaten path. What’s more, the 20K breathability here will ensure you don’t overheat in them either (even during more strenuous activities beneath the blazing sun, like mid-day splitboarding).
58% of the 3L pants have been made using a bio-sourced and recycled polyester fabric, made out of sugarcane by-product that’s been deemed as unsuitable for human consumption. By using this specific fabric, Picture is doing their part to help wipe out our reliance on fossil fuels.
As for the fit, the bib’s rises half-way up your chest. Picture’s compromised on use of fabric in order to lose some of the bib’s overall weight. The logic behind it being that the less the pants weigh, the easier it will be to move about in them.
By putting in zippered vents by the thighs, Picture’s also made sure there’s an additional venting system for you to use when things get hot in the hills. The nicely implemented adjustable straps, meanwhile, will help you to optimise the bib to suit your size.
All in all, the Picture Organic Demain Pant is a durable high-quality option that’s playing its part in trying to make the world a better place. What’s not to love about that?
