Pat Moore and his crew for this winter’s Blueprint – Jake Welch and jibbing Jeremy Jones – seem to be trapped in a glass case of emotion. There’s no other explanation for the amount of talking in this eight-minute edit featuring themselves flinging their meat over most of Salt Lake City set to an emotional soundtrack.
As always, the riding is as sick as ever, right from Moore’s back one through a stairwell all the way to Welch’s front three over a kicker gap that wouldn’t look out of place in the BC backcountry
As always, the riding is as sick as ever, right from Moore’s back one through a stairwell all the way to Welch’s front three over a kicker gap that wouldn’t look out of place in the BC backcountry – except for the terrifying chain link fence in the middle that looks like it would dice him into chunks Looney Tunes-style if he came up short – it’s urban riding at its absolute gnarliest.
Photographer extraordinaire Andy Wright pops up midway through with a very valid point about the current state of affairs: rocketing lift ticket prices in the States (up to $160 a day in some places) are forcing kids off the mountains and back to finding their own ways of pushing snowboarding. Whilst that’s true, it does sit a little uncomfortably alongside talk of turning up to spots with six SUVs, generator and a winch – compared to the low key simplicity but super fast progression of this Trollhaugen edit we posted earlier today it’s easy to pick out which one of these is really the ‘core’ direction of snowboarding.
Anyway, again the riding here is totally on point. Maybe just hit the mute button…
