Why we chose the Oakley Flight Path XL Snowboard Goggles: Oakley’s top engineers teamed up with some of the world’s best racers, including Norwegian Super G champ Aleksander Kilde to make sure that no matter the conditions, you won’t be left wanting with the Flight Path.

The Flight Path was released last season to rave reviews, an amalgamation of new concepts and tried and tested Oakley tech make it one of the hottest goggles on the market, this is your brand-new widescreen TV for the mountain, and it’s comes equipped with full high-definition capabilities.

At its core the Flight Path is a goggle for aggressive alpine riders or those who’d really make the most of the extended upper FOV, but thanks to the incredible adaptability of Prizm lenses, there isn’t a rider out there who won’t be able to reap the benefits from a pair.

Who Are The Oakley Flight Path XL For?

For some, riding fast is a way of life, and if you’re the kind of snowboarder who prioritises agility, makes a beeline for technical descents and goes hell for leather trying to break the land speed record every time you strap in then, then you’ve got to be able to react to external stimuli at the drop of a hat. Being able to see what’s ahead of you and scout your line with confidence requires a goggle that allows you to see as much of the mountain as possible with the best possible visuals. Introducing the Oakley Flight Path.

Lens

One of the many things that set Oakley apart from the crowd is their proprietary Prizm lens technology, as with all their offerings the Flight Path utilises this contrast boosting expertise to ensure the utmost visual accuracy no matter the conditions.

With Prizm you’re better placed to accurately read the snow, picking on every contour and curve, allowing you to react faster and ride with more conviction. Each Prizm lens is tuned for specific conditions; they manipulate the light spectrum by using different dyes to boost, or block, certain colours depending on its desired environment. They filter and enhance the colours and tints that optimise contrast in mountainous settings.

The Flight Path uses a spherical lens, which curves away from you equally on both the X & Y axis to reduce distortion by following the curvature of your eye. This 3D shape has long since been the favourite for those looking for a high-performance goggle with true-to-life visuals.

The larger surface area of the lens allows for unobstructed peripheral view, plus the orbicular shaping reduces flat spots on the lens for light to hit and cause glare. The volume inside the goggles in is also greater, allowing for more space for air to circulate, which in turn mitigates the risk of fogging.

“The Flight Path’s semi-rimless design fits right in with its core principle of offering a larger scope of sight”

Frame and Straps

The Flight Path’s use Oakley’s RidgeLock EV system to allow you to swiftly swap lenses to pick and choose which one you want dependant on the weather. The low-profile design once again makes for unimpeded visuals plus they’re fully sealed to keep the elements out.

The Flight Path’s semi-rimless design fits right in with its core principle of offering a larger scope of sight. The lack of frame in the lower portion allows for unobstructed downwards view, whilst the upper portion offers a slight buffer zone between goggle and helmet for some extra protection.

The Flight Path’s injection moulded Plutonite lenses block 100% of harmful UV rays, exceed requirements for impact protection and have built in anti-fog coating. They’re housed in Oakley’s formfitting, OTG compatible, O-Matter frame with its plush triple layer face foam for added comfort.

Roundup

Every feature has been meticulously designed and tested to ensure you’re getting incredible optical clarity and broad peripherals wrapped in a really high-performance package.
