Framed, or frameless? It’s a matter of preference, of course, and there’s no shortage of choice on either side. If you prefer the former, the Oakley Canopy snowboard goggle remains one of our top recommendations.

You can tell just by looking at it that the Oakley Canopy is a large-sized goggle, with a spherical lens that offers excellent peripheral vision. Given the overall width and height of the frame, you don’t need to worry about catching a glimpse of it while you’re riding.

The frame of the Oakley Canopy is made of injection-moulded polycarbonate with is tough yet lightweight, and cold-resistant to boot. That means it remains malleable even when the mercury drops, which is handy considering that you need to pull the frame a little to release the lens. It’s not the fastest system, but it makes up for that by being 100% reliable.

There’s plenty of room for a pair of glasses underneath, as well as small notches in the frame to allow the arms of your specs to pass through comfortably. It’s not something you’ll notice if you don’t need them, though.

With multiple styles and several tints of Prizm lens to choose from, it’s easy to find the right Oakley Canopy snowboard goggle for you.

Tester’s Verdict

Andrew Duthie – whitelines.com

“As a fan of bigger goggles, the Canopy was my go-to model for a few years, and I was pleased to discover that this year’s version is as well-performing and comfortable as ever.

It really is comfy; everyone’s face is different, but I’d bet good money that no-one who likes a bigger frame would have any issues with the Canopy in that department.

“It now comes in an Irn Bru-esque colourway. WANT”

While some people prefer vents to be hidden away, I don’t have a problem with them being right there on the lens, and the ones on the Canopy certainly work well – fogging was never a concern.

Oh, and it now comes in an Irn Bru-esque colourway. WANT.”
