NOW Bindings launch the world’s first A.I Bindings

Remember watching The Terminator as a kid, thinking ‘damn 2029 is ages away, wonder if Skynet is going to be a thing then’. Well, hate to break it to you, 2029 is only nine years away and snowboarding has just taken its first step into artificial intelligence.

“The A.I. binding is the first-ever 3D-printed binding that’s been entirely designed by Artificial Intelligence”

Even if fighting off the Terminator in order to prevent a nuclear holocaust might sound fun, we’re actually quite certain this won’t lead to that. Together with Nidecker Group and ADDIT-ION, NOW Bindings have just launched the world’s first snowboard bindings designed by Artificial Intelligence, which might just be the coolest thing we’ve heard all season. Actually, what the hell, it’s probably the coolest thing we’ve ever heard.

Known for their innovative Skate Tech, NOW bindings have now taken things even further. The A.I. binding is the first-ever 3D-printed binding that’s been entirely designed by Artificial Intelligence. What does this mean then? Basically, they wanted to create a binding with maximum stiffness combined with the lowest possible mass to make a responsive af binding, optimised for turning.

NOW Bindings, Artificial Intelligence Bindings.

In order to make this happen, the three amigos decided to team up: ADDIT-ION with their expertise in AI design and 3D printing, NOW Bindings with their innovative Skate Tech Technology and Nidecker Group with their binding tech wizardry.

“The result is the A.I. BINDING, the first-ever snowboard binding created by an Artificial Intelligence which, thanks to its design, is 25% lighter than current bindings.“ – Daniel Schmäh, R&D Director, Snowboard Bindings at Nidecker.

“To see the result of this knowledge exchange is simply incredible!”JF Pelchat, founder of NOW bindings.

NOW Bindings just set the bar real high for 2020, and we can’t wait to see what’s next. A snowboard designed by Artificial Intelligence? A pair of boots? Who knows what the new decade will bring.
