A real Jack of all trades, the Decade’s versatile mid-flex and long-term comfort make it a real contender for your boot of choice. This season the Decade comes in its classic form or the vibrant Ethan Morgan version. Introducing Ethan’s very first pro-model boot, the Northwave DECADE GAPER-69. Taking many of its features from the ever-popular Decade but with a little Monsieur Morgan panache to boot.
Your boots are arguably the most important bit of snowboard kit that you’ll purchase, the wrong boot can really ruin a great days riding. Fit is the key element to a comfortable pair of boots, and that mostly comes down to the liner boot. Internally, Northwave have equipped the Decade with their top of the range TF3 liner, the dual density foam and memory latex mould to the shape of your foot for a snug and responsive fit.
“The biometric asymmetric tongue creates a seamless fit with the liner boot for a quick response time”
A Contour Cushion insole sits inside the liner and backs up the performance credentials of the Decade. The heel is supported with a stable platform, whilst the forefoot is made of a softer EVA foam to absorb shock and increase comfort. The biometric asymmetric tongue creates a seamless fit with the liner boot for a quick response time and works with the internal power strap to eliminate dead zones in the shin.
Northwave use their own speedlace system to keep the Decade snug and secure all day long. An internal lace handles the liner boot while two separate external laces handle the top and bottom half of the boot respectively, giving you more control and a wider range of options. Just pull the laces and flick the levers to lock them in, they’ve even got little pockets at the side to stash them away neatly. Or if you’re Ethan Morgan, these stash pockets are for exactly that… your stash.
Separating it from the classic Decade, Ethan’s GAPER boot has an external powerstrap, keeping the tongue flush to your leg eliminating painful shin bang. The reflective panelling ensures you won’t be blending in to the crowd any time soon, just like Ethan himself. For riders looking for a boot to do it all, the Northwave Decade is a great all-mountain option that you can take from hardpack groomers all the way to backcountry booter missions.
