Northstar, Heavenly and others break snowfall records

Nick Visconti gets a facefull of Californian white gold

What a year it’s been for shredding in the States: not only did sales of snowsports gear hit a new high, but they were graced in some areas with record amounts of snowfall.

Breckenridge (home of Nate and Seb Kern), Heavenly, Keystone and Vail all beat their previous records, in places by as much as 60 inches. None of them could compare to Northstar though: a massive 688 inches fell this season. The previous record? 424 inches!

Of course, while all this was going on across the pond, Europe wasn’t so lucky. Don’t be too jealous of the Yanks though: they’re getting Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole for the forseeable future….
